Last night, a lunar eclipse occurred. A lunar eclipse happens when the Full Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra (shadow) at night.
There are three types of Lunar Eclipses: Penumbral, Partial, and Total. A Penumbral Eclipse occurs when the Moon passes through the Earth’s penumbra, making it appear dimmer and darker. A Partial and Total Eclipse is when the Moon passes either partially or fully into the Earth’s umbra.
The Total Lunar Eclipse has also become known as the Blood Moon due to its red color, and has a history of occurring on and around Jewish Holidays, and before important events, mostly concerning Israel. The Blood Moon has been mentioned in the Bible book of Revelation, chapter 6, verse 12: “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood”. This is a combination of a Solar and Lunar Eclipse close together in time. There was, notably, an event like this in 2015.
The Blood Moon was recorded to have happened at the death of Jesus Christ, and at the Siege of Jerusalem in 66 A.D. and the Siege of Masada in 73 A.D., shortly before both rebelling Israeli strongholds fell to the Romans. It has also occurred in 1453, when the Byzantines were under the final Siege of Constantinople, and was taken by them (with the combination of Haley’s Comet) as an ill omen. Sure enough, Constantinople fell to the Ottomans a few days later. In 1493, another Blood Moon happened just before the Spanish Inquisitor forced all Jews out of Spain. In 1504, Christopher Columbus predicted the occurrence of the Lunar Eclipse/Blood Moon in order to save his men from starvation when the local natives refused to give them something to eat, and Columbus then threatened to make the Moon disappear, and then re-appear. As it was, the Moon did just that, and the natives fed him and his men in fear of him. In 1948, the Blood Moon occurred just before Israel declared itself independent, and another one occurred in 1967, when Israel re-captured Jerusalem after 2,000 years in exile!
The Blood Moon has also occurred in a tetrad in 2014-2015, when the Earth experienced four Blood Moons (including yesterday’s) in two years, a once-in-a-lifetime event. There have been predictions of an important upcoming event as a result of this, possibly even the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, referred to in the Book of Joel: “the sun will turn into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.”[en.wikipedia.org/…iki/Blood_Moon_Prophesy]
The Blood Moon/Lunar Eclipse is certainly an important event all by itself, and there are many thoughts on what it may mean. What are your thoughts on it?
