The end of 2015 is near, and 2016 will begin, but what happened this year? Here are some of the major events that occurred in 2015.

January 1, 2015: The Eurasian Economic Union comes into effect, which involves Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

March 5-Present: The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant continues to demolish ancient cities in Iraq, while the United States leads offensives against ISIS.

March 25: Saudi Arabia leads a coalition of countries to fight to uphold Yemen’s government.

April 25: A magnitude 7.8 earthquake strikes Nepal, and combined with a second in May, cause around 9,200 deaths.

July 14: Iran agrees to limit its Nuclear program in return for a relief of Sanctions.

September 24: Over 2,000 people are killed in a stampede during the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.

November 13: Several attacks occurring in Paris, France are claimed by ISIS, and which results in over 100 deaths.
