I could not get off the hook so fast on the 2016 Summer Olympics! I previously had covered the controversies of the Olympics this year.

The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro from August 5th  to August 21st  were interesting, and not just because BattleBots episodes were postponed… More than 11,000 athletes from 207 different countries participated, though there were controversies. I previously mentioned the Zika Virus and the Russia doping scandal, but a new one emerged: Ryan Lochte lying about being robbed at gunpoint. Also, Brazil’s president Dilma Rousseff was impeached in office and was replaced by former Vice-President Michael Temer.

The United States won its 1,000th gold medal during the games, and won the most medals combined. Great Britain came in a distant second in gold medals, and China in third. Brazil was not even in the top 10, though it was the host country.

The 2016 Rio Olympics are not over yet, the Paralympics has just started. The Summer Olympics only come by every 4 years, so it is a sight to see.
